Who's behind the SFX magic?
Vanessa Davis is known as The Skulltress, or @the_wigs_and_makeup_manager on Instagram, with 1.2 Million Followers is known for her elaborate, theatrical, detailed and highly creative makeup designs and looks she creates on herself and others.
Vanessa has been a guest Judge on Glow Up (BBC & Netflix) and has created makeup in Beetlejuice, Bridgerton, Star Wars, Loki 2, Wicked and much more. Vanessa has worked with celebrities such as Glenn Coose, Emma Thompson, Rita Ora, Jennifer Saunders, Richard E Grant. She shares all of the knowledge she had accumulated over her 20 years creating SFX makeup for Film, Tv & Theatre.
Vanessa built her social media platform whilst she worked full time, managing the Wigs & Makeup Department at English National Opera, in London, UK.
Her background is theatre and she worked for 12 years in this field designing wigs, hair and makeup on 45 operas, 4 musicals and 2 plays. Into her 7th year of social media work, Vanessa transitioned to a full time designer, influencer and educator on social media and has partnered and collaborated with brands such as Urban Decay, Wedgwood, Disney, Warner Music, 20 Century Fox, MAC, Makeup Forever, Selfridges, Freixenet, Illamasqua and much more. She continues to work in Stage, TV & Film and also has a successful online Make Up Academy, offering courses on how to achieve all areas of Creative & SFX make up.
